Workshop #4: “Dystopian AI Futures? Present Precursors and Preventive Practices”

29 September 2026, 1-5pm

Online via Zoom

This workshop imagines and explores dystopian AI futures through the lens of their potential present precursors. It focuses primarily on concrete, near-term risks rather than vague long-term scenarios, asking which current developments already cause harm and point in dangerous directions – and which preventive practices could counter them. The workshop is motivated by the conviction that securing a positive impact of powerful AI-tools requires careful and strategic collective decision-making in the common interest. Thus, the workshop will present and challenge both empirically informed contributions on risks, harms and actual governance gaps, as well as realistic strategies of mitigation, increasing safety, democratic control and, if necessary, resistance.
